An interview with Monika Kluk \u2013 chairwoman and owner of LUKRE Accounting Office in Zabrze \u2013 about her nearly 20 years of experience in accounting, the natural growth of her company, her empathetic support for entrepreneurs, and her ability to balance work and family responsibilities. Monika Kluk has just been nominated to the title of  Charismatic Woman<\/em>.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At what age did you start developing career plans?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I was passionate about science in elementary school, but my thoughts about choosing a career didn\u2019t begin to form until high school, hence my subsequent studies at the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology. I also completed postgraduate studies in Accounting and Finance at the same university. Before establishing the office, I gained my knowledge at the construction company KOSTAL Sp. z o.o., where I spent years carving out a career path, from a junior accountant position while still a student, to a freelance accountant position, and finally to the chief accountant position I hold today.

Is Kostal a family business?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes, the company was founded in the 1990s by my late uncle, my mother\u2019s brother. After his death, my mother, an ambitious and enterprising woman, continued the business under the same name, along with my brother and husband. I didn\u2019t plan to work here long because I wanted independence, but ultimately, I still work here today (laughter).
As time went on and I gained experience, I dreamed of having my own business. I knew that accounting was something I loved, something I found fulfilling, and something that fascinated me.
That\u2019s why I decided to open my own accounting firm. I succeeded in 2012. It was a difficult time for me, as I had a two-year-old son and was pregnant with my daughter. To manage my responsibilities, I hired my first employee, a qualified accountant, who covered for me in both offices.
During my motherhood, I worked from home, contacting clients by phone and email, and organizing meetings with them. After more than two years, I returned to work fully. Today, I employ six people and have over a hundred clients. We handle both full accounting and PKPiR (tax revenue and expense ledgers). We also serve foundations, associations, and sports clubs..

How are responsibilities divided at Lukre?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Each employee is responsible for assigned tasks. One person handles lump sums, another handles PKPiR. The policy is that clients contact their assigned specialists, and if someone needs to consult with me to clarify a specific financial situation, they are redirected to me by an employee.
The rules are that contractors contact their assigned specialists, and if someone wants to consult with me to clarify a specific financial situation, they are referred to me by an employee. Communication within my company plays a significant role. Importantly, I don\u2019t impose responsibilities or new goals on myself; I don\u2019t assume I need to hire more employees or acquire a specific number of clients this year. Everything happens naturally; we strive to best meet the needs of our clients and the changing market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are an accountant, not a tax advisor.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes. If a client\u2019s situation requires tax advice, I connect them with the appropriate specialists with whom my office collaborates daily. It\u2019s crucial to be able to carefully distinguish this type of advice from accounting consultations. Unauthorized advice can result in a fine of up to PLN 100,000. Therefore, it\u2019s crucial to know the line between advice and accounting consultations with clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You also belong to the Association of Cooperative Accounting Firms.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes. I currently serve as Vice President of SWBR. It\u2019s a nationwide organization that brings together accounting firm owners from across Poland. We come together to support each other, develop our businesses, and support our clients. We have two groups on Facebook. One is a dedicated forum where we present and discuss difficult client issues, solve various problems, and simply help each other. The other focuses on organizational matters, training, meetings, and discounts. We also organize private training sessions for our members and their employees to stay up-to-date on tax regulations and keep up with changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you attend conferences?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Yes, participating in conferences and discussion panels has been a huge development for me and my business. These include thematic conferences on office management, soft skills training, and also training on tax changes. We are currently preparing to organize our own conference, the likes of which will connect business and accounting: BUSINESS BRIDGES 2026 \u2013 The First SWBR Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n

What are you most proud of?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I think it\u2019s because I\u2019m a fulfilled mother of two teenagers, a happy wife, my company is constantly growing, and I can balance work and life. My family loves traveling and soccer. I have three soccer players at home, because my husband, son, and daughter all play soccer. Yes, my daughter does too. My husband plays because he enjoys it, and my children, in turn, have already achieved great things. I\u2019m a huge fan of all of them, I love going to their matches, and that\u2019s why I\u2019ve also fallen in love with soccer. It\u2019s very relaxing, it allows me to unwind, and it takes my mind off work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advice would you give your clients?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I recommend that clients carefully read emails from their accountants and emphasize good communication with the accounting firm. This way, we can effectively look after their well-being. Often, accounting firms provide services at discounted prices to attract as many clients as possible. Later, it turns out, for example, that the books are kept so superficially that it\u2019s difficult to correct all the errors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A graduate of the Faculty of Organization and Management at the Silesian University of Technology, she also completed postgraduate studies in Accounting and Finance at the Silesian University of Technology. She holds a Certificate from the Ministry of Finance no. 337308\/2010 entitling her to provide bookkeeping services.
She is a Member of the Management Board of the Association of Cooperating Accounting Offices and a member of the Association of Accountants in Poland. Since June 2021, she has been a founding member of the National Chamber of Accounting Offices. Before establishing the office, she gained her knowledge at the construction company KOSTAL Sp. z o.o., where she built her career path over the years, from a junior accountant while still a student, through an independent accountant, to the chief accountant she currently holds. She has nearly 20 years of experience in accounting. Monika Kluk uses her knowledge, energy, and passion for numbers iin work that produces tangible results. Thanks to ongoing training, participation in webinars, and change control, she is able to effectively manage his clients\u2019 accounting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
